What the heck have we come to? So Black Friday now starts on Thursday night. People give the bum rush to giving thanks to run down to the local Walmart and act like idiots. In the news I read of several Black Friday incidents that made my skin crawl. 1. a woman fighting for either video games or players not sure which pepper sprayed people to get to them. 2 a man was arrested and then knocked out because in order to keep other hoodlum shoppers from taking yet again another video game right out of his hands he put it under his shirt. I realize the officer who knocked him down resulting in him losing consciousnesses and an amount of blood had no idea exactly what happened but Really? Over Christmas Gifts? Over GAMES. We have become nothing short of a pack of wolfs feeding off a carcass of commercialism gone crazy.
Okay so much for a time to reflect on the time of our Lord's birth, or even world peace, friendship or any other holiday cheer, we have to knock whoever is in our way outta the way to reach a freaking VIDEO GAME.
I stopped doing Black Friday several years ago, rarely step out of the house after Thanksgiving, avoid town like the plague. 90% of my shopping will be done online as I can't stand the rudeness of people in the store, the commercialism of the holiday, the Greediness of the shoppers. The sad thing is people have their children with them often when they are acting like this and what a great example we are making for them.
We have sunk to a new all time Commercialized Christmas low!!!

Enjoying the Garden
I don't know why some years I never get a garden it. The sense of accomplishment I get when I see my garden grow is great. I also like growing my own food. Since I have such a problem with chemicals it is very nice to know what is going in my food. My porphyria keeps me from feeling great so much of the time it is very nice to know that nothing has been added to my food. The biggest problem is getting myself out there to do some maintenance with my problems with the sun. I did put black plastic down to help combat the weeds. I would love to turn the whole field (or a large part of it) into a blueberry, other berry farm, however I know I would never been able to keep up with it, or find enough water with it.
I read today that a greater number of American's are growing some of their own food. I think this is partially due to the price of fresh vegetables in the store, and I think the first lady's push for gardens is good too. I am looking into a aerogarden for the winter just for lettuce. We seem to be eatting a lot of salads these days, so I could see how it would pay for itself quickly. They are readily available used on ebay just not sure about buying one on Ebay.
We will see

Adventures and more
Of late I have found the urge to be somewhat domestic. This doesn't happen very often but I have gotten a lot done. 18 jars of Blueberry pie filling are canned and and ready to be stored. I adventured into something new and canned a bunch of strawberry lemonade concentrate which I think turned out very nicely. I put the rest of the strawberries in the freezer to make into jam later when I get ready. I think canned what started as peach honey, but ended up more as peach syrup, which is okay we eat a lot of pancakes and what not here and it should be good.
I got a garden in for the first time in two years and its looking mighty fine. Now that Oregon has decided to give us a little sunshine it actually looks like it might grow a bit, the tomatoes are blooming and I found a blossom on the squash plant today. The four blueberry plants I put in are loaded even though I was sure I pulled most of the blooms off when I got them. I have about three types of lettuce, some onions and I planted carrots, though I haven't seen then sprout yet. I did not put in corn and its always much easier to go down to Seven Oaks Farm and just buy it.
I got over to my mother in law's house today for a couple hours and got a bunch more cleaned out and ready for good will. Since it is on our same property I want to use the house for some much needed storage and need to get her stuff straightened out and given out to my husband's four sisters.
Slowly the house is getting under control after years of it being a total disaster. I still have more to do and am working on it as much as possible. I am gonna find my way back out from under 'it" one way or another. I have let way too much get outta control over the years and I need to get it back to where it is good for all of us.
Signing off for tonight
